Lehi — Real Salt Lake forward Jean Alexandre has been suspended by Major League Soccer one game for kicking a defender during Saturday's match with D.C. United. Alexandre will miss Wednesday's game at Chicago

The play, which occurred in the second half of the 1-1 tie, did not draw a yellow card. Alexandre and United defender Jed Zayner clashed inside D.C.'s 18-yard box.

"Jean stuck his foot in," said an unhappy RSL coach Jason Kreis. "From my vantage point the defender on the play kicked Jean. It was a follow through on a ball that he was trying to clear and Jean's foot was left in there. I didn't think there was anything in it."

The suspension leaves RSL with one healthy forward, Fabian Espindola, for Wednesday's 6:30 p.m. (MDT) game at Toyota Park.
