Real Salt Lake's Jean Alexandre has been named the Major League Soccer player of the week, after he recorded the first goal and first assist of his career last weekend.
It's the first time he has won the award.
Alexandre normally plays defensive midfield for RSL, but was starting just his second game at forward against the Vancouver Whitecaps because most of the team's other forwards are either injured or away on international duty.
Yet Alexandre scored the game-winning goal in the first half, before assisting fellow forward Fabian Espindola on an insurance strike in the second half of a 2-0 victory at Rio Tinto Stadium.
