Cedar City—Southern Utah's Bo Cuthbertson became the first Thunderbird to be named the Summit League Player of the Year and was one of five SUU players selected to the all-conference baseball team, it was announced Wednesday. Cuthbertson is a junior from Cactus High School in Glendale, Ariz. He batted .432, which was fifth in the nation, and finished with the third-highest hit total in school history (83). Cuthbertson, a switch-hitting shortstop, led the Summit League in total bases (83) and slugging percentage (.688). He blasted five home runs and drove in 51 runs. "Being awarded this honor says a lot about Bo", said SUU coach Dave Eldredge. "He is very deserving and not only had a great year this past season but has hit well throughout his time here." Cuthbertson was joined on the all-conference first team by utility player Mitchell Kauweloa and pitcher James Crockett. Designated hitter Taylor Shaw and outfielder Tyson Weber were named to the all-league second team.
