Davis was born in Salt Lake City and grew up in Riverton, where he received first-team all-region honors at Riverton High School.
After high school, Davis attended Snow Junior College where he walked on as a member of the football team. After just one semester at Snow, Davis was awarded a scholarship for his second season. As a sophomore, Davis started in every game and was a key contributor to Snow’s defense being ranked first in the nation amongst junior colleges. He earned first-team all-conference honors while recording 49 total tackles, including 19 for a loss and four sacks.
Davis then transferred to Utah State, where he started the first six games, notching 17 total tackles and one sack before suffering a knee injury.
As a senior, Davis missed first half of the season while still continuing to rehab. Upon his return, he tallied 13 total tackles for the Aggies.
