Cedar City • Southern Utah University men's basketball has signed Marysvale, Calif., forward Julian Scott to a national letter of intent for the 2011-12 season.

Scott is a 6-foot-7, 235-pounder who was an all-Bay Valley Conference performer at Yuba College last season, averaging 12.6 points and six rebounds. He helped the team to a 25-6 overall mark and a conference championship after the 49ers finished a perfect 11-0 in league play.

"We really like Julian's versatility and things we think he can do for us," said Thunderbird coach Roger Reid. "He is a big, physical player, who will give us a presence inside, but he also has a nice shooting touch out to about 18 feet."
