Lehi • Defender Chris Schuler has been something of a revelation for Real Salt Lake so far this year, filling in admirably for both Jamison Olave and Nat Borchers in some pressure-packed games.

His key to success? Don't look back.

"I just try to think about the next play, and stay tuned in," he said.

That's not easy, either.

While Schuler has been good, he has been far from perfect. His mistakes led to the only real chances against RSL in the first half of its 1-0 victory at San Jose last weekend, and some players might have dwelled on them. But coach Jason Kreis was impressed that Schuler was able to shake them off and bounce back with a solid second half.

"That shows something, in and of itself," Kreis said.

It's unclear whether Schuler will make another start in the home opener against the Los Angeles Galaxy at Rio Tinto Stadium on Saturday; Olave could be recovered from a hamstring injury by then.

However it works out, coaches know that they have continued to develop a top young player to strengthen their back line. Perhaps only a lack of playing time — and its attendant visibility — as a rookie last year kept Schuler from being snatched away by either Portland or Vancouver in the Major League Soccer expansion draft.

"If you don't get a little nervous, you're not ready to play," Schuler said. "But I've been more excited than anything else, to get the opportunity."

Hot streak

RSL is riding a 15-game unbeaten streak in Major League Soccer play, tied for the second-longest in league history. FC Dallas owns the record of 19 in a row — a streak RSL snapped last season — along with the Columbus Crew from 2008. RSL is tied with the Galaxy, who have had two separate 15-game unbeaten streaks in their history.

Injury report

Goalkeeper Nick Rimando missed practice Tuesday with a detached bone spur in his ankle.

The team is listing Rimando as questionable to play against the Galaxy, after the veteran made 10 saves in a howling rainstorm to help RSL beat the Earthquakes. Counterpart Donovan Ricketts of the Galaxy also is questionable, having missed his team's first two games with a hamstring injury.

Ticket talk

Team officials aren't enjoying huge lines at the ticket window the way the Portland Timbers were the other day, but they still are hoping for a sellout for the home opener against the Galaxy.

Several thousand tickets were still available Tuesday, a team spokesman said. RSL will be aiming to keep alive its 35-game home unbeaten streak in all competitions.
