The Southern Utah University men's and women's golf teams will both be in action this weekend.
The men will participate in Wyoming's Desert Intercollegiate Saturday and Sunday at the par 72 Classic Club in Palm Desert, Calif.
Juniors Jeff Evans, Brad Millard and Jordan Orth and freshman Nic Booth are expected to compete for the Thunderbirds this weekend. Evans was recently named co-Men's Golfer of the Week by the Summit League after he finished 12th overall at the season-opening Pat Hicks Thunderbird Invitational last week.
Twenty teams make up the field include Air Force, Boise state, Colorado State, New Mexico, UNLV, Weber State and host Wyoming. SUU finished seventh at the Pat Hicks meet last week in St. George.
The SUU women will open their spring season at North Arizona's Red Rocks Invitational in Sedona, Ariz., against host Northern Arizona, Montana, and Montana State among other teams. Juniors Sadie Palmer and Kacy Buckner, soph Jamie Coking and freshman Kaohi Loo are expected to lead the Thunderbirds.
