Logan • At least a share of the Western Athletic Conference title will reside in Logan for a fourth consecutive season.

But No. 17 Utah State was in no mood to celebrate, even in the wake of a dominant 71-55 win over Fresno State on Saturday night at the Spectrum.

An impending matchup with St. Mary's on Saturday is one reason. But the sense that the work isn't done within the league was a big factor for the businesslike mood of the team in the moments after.

"It just doesn't feel like we've won it yet," Aggies head coach Stew Morrill said. "It was a good win for us, but we want to win it outright. We'll have our chances to do so, and if and when we get it done, that's when we'll celebrate."

As speed bumps toward the WAC title goes, Fresno State hardly registered. Following USU's stunning loss to Idaho on Wednesday, its first conference defeat of the season, the Aggies played like an angry team for the first 25 minutes and then coasted down the stretch.

Utah State put things away by closing the half with a 28-6 run. It was as easy as it sounded. The Aggies put four players in double-figures. Brian Green and Nate Bendall each had 13 points, while Tai Wesley and Pooh Williams scored 10 points apiece.

Wesley was on track to challenge the triple-double threshold before finishing with eight rebounds and six assists. Bendall had eight rebounds in his finest outing since the last time USU met the Bulldogs. Brady Jardine had eight points and nine rebounds.

"It was a good game to come out and play hard, and we feel good about this win," Bendall said. "The inside game is fundamental for us as a team. If we can get the inside game going, they have to respect that and it allows our shooters to get open looks."

Utah State moves to 23-3 with the win, the 12th consecutive season the Aggies have accomplished that feat.

In doing so, USU dominated many of the statistical categories. The Aggies went 7 of 16 from 3-point range, won the rebounding battle 36-21 and hit 22 of their 26 free-throws.

Former Lone Peak star Bracken Funk led Fresno with 14 points and six rebounds. The freshman also had two assists and two steals.
