San Jose, Calif. • One by one Brian Green launched daggers at San Jose State on Thursday night. With each three-point bomb, the senior guard put a stamp on another career-night.

Coming off the bench, Green, the former Davis High star, scored 25 points and led No. 25 Utah State to an 84-65 win over a Spartan team that featured Adrian Oliver and not much else.

Green made his first eight shots, including five from beyond the arc, as the Aggies used a 12-0 first half run to pull away. Oliver, the leading scorer in the Western Athletic Conference, scored a game-high 29 points, but had to take 23 shots to reach that total.

"It's hard to explain when you get into a zone like that," Green said. "I made my first few shots, and I started getting open behind screens. I started getting aggressive when my shots started falling."

Utah State, playing its first game since entering the national rankings, set several marks with Thursday's win. The Aggies notched a season-high in points scored, USU scored 42 points off the bench, also a season-high and the Aggies turned a slow start into an impressive shooting performance.

Utah State made nine of its 17 three-point attempts, 19-23 free-throws and had 17 assists and just six turnovers. And while Tai Wesley drew constant double-teams, in an effort to slow him down, the Aggies came up with perhaps its best perimeter performance of the season.

"It helps when you have a guy making a bunch of shots," Utah State coach Stew Morrill said. "Brian went on a roll tonight and that helped us tremendously."

As did USU's ability to score in different ways. While Green's shots came mostly in half-court sets, Brockeith Pane and Pooh Williams dominated in transition, scoring 27 points between them and getting out on the fastbreak and scoring easy lay-ups. The two hooked up twice for alley-oops that ended in dunks from Williams. That was able to balance Wesley, who scored just nine points on 4-11 shooting.

Brady Jardine turned offensive rebounds into scores and Tyler Newbold had a season-high seven assists to go with six points and four rebounds. Newbold was also the primary defender on Oliver and held the senior guard to 10-23 shooting from the field.

That was enough for Utah State to maintain a double-digit lead for all of the second half. And when the Aggies went on their inevitable run, the game was effectively over.

"I thought San Jose State was excited to play tonight," Morrill said. "They lost (All-conference point guard), Justin Graham to an Achilles injury before the game, but they never let their heads down. They came out and played like they had nothing to lose."

Even so, that wasn't enough. Utah State won its 14th consecutive game on Thursday night. Heading into Saturday's matchup at Hawaii, the Aggies are 8-0 in the WAC and 19-2 overall.
