Boise, Idaho • As Utah State wades through its Western Athletic Conference schedule, the Aggies are facing teams with different styles, all aimed at knocking USU off its stride and pulling off what would be a huge upset.

Boise State's plan on Thursday night? Pressure the ball full-court and deny Tai Wesley the basketball by any means. To the Broncos' credit, both ploys worked. They forced 22 Utah State turnovers, and held Wesley to just six points.

The Aggies, however, are way more than just a one-man team.

Brockeith Pane scored 19 points, and Brian Green added 16 as Utah State defeated Boise 68-59 before 8,825 at Taco Bell Arena. The win puts the Aggies in sole possession of first place in the WAC. With a 4-0 league record, USU is now the last remaining unbeaten team in the conference.

But it wasn't without a bevy of anxious moments.

"There was some good and bad in this win," Aggies coach Stew Morrill said. "It's good that the guys had the maturity to keep playing when things weren't going well. They made plays when they had to. They defended well, they rebounded well. But we have to take care of the ball better. We didn't handle the pressure well at all."

Utah State is now 15-2 overall and on a 10-game winning streak, dating back to December 4th. And with each win, the Aggies are finding new ways to adjust to their opponents. On Thursday night, Boise doubled Wesley at all times, never letting him get comfortable in the post. In response, Stew Morrill put Brian Green in the game and the senior torched the Broncos with five three-pointers.

And when Boise State turned the game ugly with its relentless pressure, Morrill turned Pane loose, and the junior responded. Time and again he beat the Broncos defenders to the basket off the dribble, finishing at the rim almost every time.

"They caused a lot of turnovers, but we found a way to win the game," Pane said. "It's something that we have to fix because teams are going to watch film of this game and they're going to be ready for us. So it's something that we have to clean up."

Pane's 3-pointer from the corner with three minutes remaining gave Utah State a 58-50 advantage, one that proved to be insurmountable. He added eight rebounds and three assists to his total, but had a team-leading seven turnovers.

"The good thing about Brockeith is that he started really slow," Morrill said. "He didn't play well, but he kept his head in the game mentally and he made a lot of plays for us when we needed it."

Boise State's Robert Arnold led all scorers with 20 points.
