The American League and National League pennants are on the line starting today when the New York Yankees meet the Texas Rangers in the American League Championship Series in Arlington. San Francisco travels to Philadelphia on Saturday for the beginning of the NLCS. Pitching is always at a premium in the postseason, but perhaps never more so than this year, given the aces involved. CC Sabathia
Cliff Lee
Odds are Cliff Lee and CC Sabathia won't meet in a head-to-head battle in the ALCS. As a result, New York owes Tampa Bay a big-time favor. The Rays extended their ALDS series with Texas to five games, forcing Lee to pitch Game 5. The former Cy Young winner is scheduled to pitch Game 3 in New York. It may be the only time the Yanks will face Lee, who dominated them last year in the World Series as a Phillie. Meanwhile, Sabathia has struggled in his last two post-season outings, allowing eight earned runs in 19 innings.
