Kona, Hawaii • Skyline's football team made history in the Hawaiian Islands early Saturday morning.

Andy Rounds rushed for 89 yards and Matt Newman ran for 84 as the Eagles stunned Hawaiian prep power Kealakehe 30-16, becoming the first Utah team — and only the second mainland team — to ever win a high school football game in Hawaii.

Kealakehe couldn't stop Skyline's option attack. The Eagles (1-2) rushed for 276 yards. But the Eagles also scored through the air, on defense and on special teams.

"We were very lucky and the kids were very fired up," said Skyline coach Roger Dupaix. "Kealakehe allowed us to play our kind of football."

The Eagles seized the initiative immediately when Rounds opened the game with a 98-yard kickoff return for a touchdown.

Skyline led 16-7 at the half. Kealakehe roared back to tie the game 16-all in the third quarter, but the Eagles scored a pair of rushing touchdowns in the final quarter to put it away.
