Hill Air Force Base will allow same-sex weddings to be performed there.

Base spokesman Rich Essary said the base currently has no chaplains whose churches allow them to perform same-sex marriages.

However, Essary said, the base will allow airmen to bring civilian clergy or officiants onto Hill Air Force Base to perform the ceremonies.

Essary on Monday afternoon said he was not aware any same-sex marriages had yet been performed on the base.

The U.S. military has adopted a policy of allowing same-sex marriages in states that permit it.
