Utah issued marriage licenses to 1,243 same-sex couples in the 17-day window between U.S. District Judge Robert Shelby's ruling that Amendment 3 was invalid on Dec. 30 and U.S. Supreme Court Justice Sonia Sotomayor's Jan. 6 stay on the ruling.

Above you can see where those licenses were issued: Green counties indicate only a few same-sex marriages. Yellow counties indicate more marriages and the red counties had the most. Seven Utah counties did not issue marriage licenses to any same-sex couples.
