SB54 would modify the part of Utah election law that outlines how political candidates are selected.

Changes include allowing voters to cast absentee ballots if they can't attend a caucus meeting and raising the threshold that candidates have to meet at convention from 60 to 65 percent.

Bill sponsor Sen. Curt Bramble, R-Provo, says SB54 also incorporates the full language of the Count My Vote initiative.
