HB229 would change how air pollution is defined in Utah, omitting gases that include carbon dioxide and nitrogen from the list of contaminants regulated by the state.
The bill's sponsor, Rep. Jerry Anderson, R-Price, is a retired science teacher who says these gases are natural parts of the atmosphere and the region's plants actually need more carbon dioxide, not less as warned by most climate scientists.
