The Taylorsville City Council on Wednesday approved the appointment of the municipality's engineer, John Taylor, as the city administrator.

Taylor also was appointed city treasurer, a job traditionally held by the city administrator. He replaces John Inch Morgan, who resigned this month to take a job as executive director of the Valley Emergency Communications Center (VECC).

Mayor Larry Johnson selected Taylor for the job and the council voted 5-0 to confirm the appointment.

Taylor already is a multi-tasker: In addition to serving as city engineer, he is director of the Community Service Division.

Taylorsville has a population of approximately 60,000.
