Early voting in primary elections for Utah municipalities begins Tuesday and runs through Aug. 9.

In Salt Lake County, voting hours are from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. weekdays at city halls in Draper, Herriman, Holladay, Midvale, Murray, Sandy, South Jordan, Taylorsville and West Valley City, according to Salt Lake County Clerk Sherrie Swensen.

In Salt Lake City, the early-voting polling place is at Trolley Square, also open from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m.

Because the early polling places are linked by computer to the state registrar, residents can vote at any polling place, Swensen said. For example, a Draper resident can vote in the Draper primary at the Salt Lake City polling station. But it is impossible for a person to vote more than once, she said.

West Jordan and Cottonwood Heights will conduct primary and general election voting by mail only, Swensen said.

On primary election day, Aug. 13, voting will be conducted at regular polling places.

Voters in cities outside of Salt Lake County should check with their respective municipalities to determine if they have a primary election — not all do — and where to go for early voting. Winners of the primary will advance to the Nov. 5 general election ballot.
