Dan Jones to be honored at retirement breakfast

Dan Jones will be honored Wednesday for more than 50 years of work as a political pollster and political science teacher at a breakfast marking his retirement.

The event, sponsored by the Hinckley Institute of Politics, the University of Utah Political Science Department and Rocky Mountain Power, will be held at the Hinckley Caucus Room on the University of Utah campus Wednesday at 9 a.m.

The breakfast is free and open to the public.

Jones started his career teaching American government at Granite and Bountiful high schools. He received his doctorate from the U. in 1968 and began teaching at Utah State University. He began teaching at the U. in 1978.

The Hinckley Institute of Politics is trying to raise $40,000 for a biography about Jones and a scholarship fund.

The Utah Legislature honored Jones last month for his work.
