Washington • Rep. Jason Chaffetz has asked one of his policy advisers to lead his Utah operation.

Wade Garrett, who has focused on public lands and rural issues over the past four years, is now the congressman's district director, replacing Dell Smith, who took the same position with Congressman-elect Chris Stewart.

"Wade has effectively served the people of Utah on my staff for four years," Chaffetz said in announcing the move. "I have full confidence that he will continue his dedicated service as district director as we transition in to our new district."

Garrett was born in Nephi and previously worked for a Juab County mining company for 10 years.
