A meeting designed to present objective information about the pros and cons of Millcreek's proposed incorporation will take place 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday at Skyline High School, 3251 E. 3760 South.

Salt Lake County is organizing the session on the contentious issue of creating a city of roughly 63,000 residents in the east-central Salt Lake Valley neighborhoods represented by the Canyon Rim, East Millcreek, Millcreek and Mount Olympus community councils. The issue will be on the Nov. 6 general election ballot.

Thursday's event will feature a presentation on "Understanding Your Taxes" by the county's chief financial officer, Darrin Casper, and a summary of the 2011 Millcreek Incorporation Feasibility Study by its authors, Susie Becker and Jeanette Harris.

Becker and Casper also will participate in a panel discussion that will include incorporation proponent Jeff Silvestrini and opponent Roger Dudley, and representatives of two of the area's most critical service providers — County Sheriff Jim Winder for the Unified Police Department and Assistant Chief Marty Slack for the Unified Fire Authority.
