Congressional candidate Mia Love isn’t the only Utahn slated to address the Republican National Convention crowd next week.

Convention organizers have asked Rep. Jason Chaffetz, R-Utah, to speak for just a few minutes on Monday, the opening day of the four-day event in Tampa, Fla., that will culminate in the formal nomination of Mitt Romney.

Chaffetz, a two-term congressman, has been an active surrogate for Romney in media interviews and in swing states such as Nevada and Colorado.

"It is an honor and a privilege and I hope to make the most of it," said Chaffetz, who indicated organizers didn’t give him a topic. "I have been acting as a Romney surrogate for a year so I better have a good two-minute speech in me."

Chaffetz’s remarks are likely to get far less attention than Love’s address during prime time on Tuesday.

Love, the mayor of Saratoga Springs, is running against Rep. Jim Matheson, D-Utah, and if she wins, she’ll be the first black female Republican in the House of Representatives.
