New Jersey Gov. Chris Christie, a star in the national Republican Party, will headline Gov. Gary Herbert's annual fundraising gala next month, the Herbert campaign announced Tuesday.

"Governor Christie doesn't pull any punches; he calls it like he sees it and I'm sure we're all in for a treat," Herbert said in a statement.

Christie will give the keynote address at the Republican National Convention later this month in Tampa, Fla.

Herbert's gala will be held Sept. 22 at the Grand America Hotel. Each year for the last several decades the governor has held a lavish black-tie fundraiser. Last year, he raised about $700,000 at the event.
