The office of Lt. Gov. Greg Bell on Wednesday disqualified Aaron Davis — a Provo Democrat running for State Senate District 7 — from appearing on the ballot because he failed to file his pre-primary election financial disclosure statement.
The deadline for filing it was Tuesday at 5 p.m. As of Wednesday at 5 p.m., the statement had still not been filed, said Mark Thomas, state elections director for Bell.

Thomas added that his office had been unable to contact Davis. The Salt Lake Tribune also was unable to reach him.
State law requires disqualifying candidates who fail to file the forms by the deadline. Thomas said state law allows the Democratic Party to replace Davis for the general election.
The only other candidate in the race for Senate District 7 is Republican Deidre Henderson. The district covers portions of Provo, Spanish Fork, Payson, Salem, Woodland Hills and Santaquin.
The Aaron Davis who is being disqualified is different from Aaron M. Davis, a Herriman resident unaffiliated with any party who is running in state House District 52.
