Besides registering to vote online, Utahns may also request an absentee ballot via the Internet.

Lt. Gov. Greg Bell said that new option was just added to voter.utah.gov

"Providing an absentee ballot option for Utah citizens is another way we are encouraging all Utah citizens to participate in the voting process," Bell said.

The website allows voters to request a one-time absentee ballot, or a "permanent by mail" ballot.

Bell's office notes that Utah was just the third state in the nation to allow residents to register online, and last year more than 10,000 people used the website to register.
