Capitol Watch Your 2012 Legislature
As the Legislature begins its 45-day session Monday, the 104 members come to the Capitol with a large entourage: Four hundred forty-four registered lobbyists four for every elected member. That attentive crowd around lawmakers, along with the short time they have to consider hundreds of bills and figure out a $13 billion budget can combine to make the Legislature appear impenetrable to regular Utahns.
But there are ways to get through to your elected officials. The Tribune tries to make that a bit easier by providing contact information for every lawmaker. And believe it or not many of them are happy to hear from the people of Utah particularly residents of their districts who vote and stay informed on the issues of the day.
The Tribune also tries to help Utahns by providing the state's most comprehensive coverage of the Legislature, with the most experienced team of reporters.
