Amount of gifts they list giving lawmakers in 2011 • $23,405

Loopholes • Law exempts reporting meals (and their costs) if all members of the House, Senate, a committee or party caucus are invited. So amounts spent on 112 different group meals, snack breaks, receptions and family events in 2011 were not disclosed. (Social calendars revealed how many such events occurred).

Gift limit • Bans lobbyists spending more than $10 per day on a lawmaker on such things as tickets to concerts or shows. Names of lawmakers must be disclosed when a lobbyist gives them more than $10 a day in food, drink or other freebies — except for the loophole listed above.
