A woman remains hospitalized after her ex-boyfriend bit off most of her bottom lip in a brutal attack on Sunday night.

The man arrived at the woman's home with the odor of alcohol on his breath. He admitted to drinking "a few shots," according to jail booking documents filed by police, and then he told the woman he wanted to talk about getting back together.

She told him she wasn't interested and that he should leave, but he refused. He then began kissing her on the lips, and when she pulled away, he clamped onto her bottom lip, biting most of it off, the documents state.

He then continued to physically attack her for about 45 minutes, culminating in him choking her for nearly one minute, during which time the victim nearly lost consciousness, the documents state.

The man made several death threats to the woman, whose 3-year-old daughter was on the couch and witnessed the attack, according to the documents.

In addition to the mouth wound, the woman's left eye was swollen shut and she had multiple cuts and bruises on her face.

The man was arrested on suspicion of felony aggravated assault and mayhem and misdemeanor committing domestic violence in front of a child.
