The Utah Division of Wildlife Resources is holding its annual Snow Goose Festival Feb. 24-26 at Gunnison Bend Reservoir near Delta. The reservoir serves as a resting spot for up to 20,000 snow geese each spring as the birds migrate north.
The festival is free and spotting scopes will be provided by the state so people can get a good look at the birds. Officials from the DWR will be on hand to talk about the geese. The geese can be seen feeding in the fields around the reservoir in the morning until about 10:30 a.m. when they fly to the reservoir. The geese return to the fields between 4 and 6 p.m. For more information about the 2012 Snow Goose Festival, call the Delta Area Chamber of Commerce 435-864-4316.
