The ride • Opened for the 1972-73 season year No. 2 for the resort above the eastern flank of Ogden Valley Timberline can be reached easily from the main parking lot. Just strap on your skis or board and head down beginner runs Drifter or North Drifter to the base of the lift. It's a slow ride up to the unloading point on this fixed-grip triple chair, but being only 3,800 feet long, it doesn't take too long before you're back on the slopes again.
Runs to try:
Drifter • Well-suited to beginners, it runs from the top of the lift to the bottom, following a ridgeline before bending near a parking lot and taking a broad gully back to the loading zone.
Sidewinder • As the name implies, this intermediate run snakes down the hill. This broad run has one steep pitch about one-third of the way down that provides nice speed for the rest of the ride.
Exterminator • Drop off the ridgeline from Drifter and you'll be tested to make quick, tight turns before settling into Sidewinder's runout. The next run over, Dynamite, requires similar skills.
