Students from kindergarten to seniors in high school are encouraged to enter the 2012 Student art contest being held in conjunction with the 14th annual Great Salt Lake Bird Festival. The subject of the contest is the black-crowned night heron. Artists can submit original drawings or paintings in color using personal observations, field guides and Internet resources. An instructional packet and more details are available at www.greatsaltlakebirdfest.com.
Entries will be judged on four grade categories with winners from each receiving cash prizes. An overall Best of Show will be chosen and featured on the 2013 Great Salt Lake Bird Festival’s promotional materials.
