Outdoor Notebook: Free walleye fishing seminar, opening of Dinosaur Quarry and more

Walleye can be some of the most difficult of Utah sport fish to figure out. Members of Rocky Mountain Anglers have been sharing their tips for landing 'eyes for nearly two decades.

The 19th annual RMA Walleye Seminar is free and is being held Tuesday, March 29, at 7 p.m. at the Department of Natural Resources building, 1594 W. North Temple, Salt Lake City. Learn new techniques, hot spots and seasonal fishing for walleye. Biologists from the Division of Wildlife Resources will also be on hand.

Dinosaur Quarry opens

The Cleveland-Lloyd Dinosaur Quarry, managed by the Bureau of Land Management, opens March 25.

The quarry site will be open Friday-Sunday through the last weekend of May (10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Friday and Saturday, noon to 5 p.m.).

The schedule for the rest of summer is yet to be determined. The entrance fee is $5 for visitors 16 and older.

The Cleveland-Lloyd Dinosaur Quarry is 30 miles south of Price. Contact the BLM Price Field Office, at 435-636-3600 for more information.

Trail grooming ends April 2

Utah State Parks and Recreation officials are announcing that grooming on nine snowmobile trail complexes will end on April 2. The decision is based on snow conditions and budget allowances.

April 2 • Dead Horse Point State Park near Moab is holding a Star Party. Learn about the stars visible from one of the darkest skies in North America. A telescope will be available. Meet at the visitor center at 8 p.m. Call 435-259-2614.
