Where • South Fork of the Snake River, southeastern Idaho

Species • Yellowstone cutthroat trout, rainbow trout, brown trout

The skinny • One of the most famous trout waters in the West, if not the world, the South Fork is an important stronghold for Yellowstone cutthroat trout. Issues of hybridization with nonnative rainbow trout has led fisheries officials to ask anglers to keep all the rainbows they catch. Other measures include setting up traps at tributaries on the upper river to prevent rainbows from swimming upstream to spawn with the cutts.
