Coming home from work Friday evening along Holladay Boulevard, I overtook a cyclist who was riding on the line and swerving into the auto traffic lane. I beeped my horn to warn him of my approach and was rewarded with a one finger salute.

Wanting to explain why I honked the horn, I stopped in my lane and put down the car window to speak to him. Instead of coming up on my right side, he went around me on the left, screaming obscenities and again giving me that finger sign that I now believe has something to do with his age or I.Q.

I do my best to share the road with the cyclists but they, in many cases, do not do the same. Be courteous to we motorists and we will do our best to make street riding safe for you.
