Another large corporation, General Electric, is cutting health care benefits to their retirees. This is not something that the elderly can afford. Most retirees do not have income that can be diverted to cover these costs. Their incomes have also been reduced or lost due to the stock market and banking industry's greed of recent years. The burden will rest on the shoulders of the government and the American taxpayer to take care of the elderly.

It is time to pass the Bankruptcy Fairness and Employee Benefits Protection Act, (S.2418) in the U.S. Senate. This federal legislation would make it difficult for companies to reduce or eliminate retirees earned benefits.
