Rep. Greg Hughes defends large bonuses to UTA executives by saying that he thinks bonuses are appropriate when someone is doing great things for the state of Utah.

I couldn't agree more. And because Utah's public school teachers typically produce test scores in the upper third of all states, and do so with the largest class sizes and the lowest per-pupil spending of any state, teachers are perfect candidates for those bonuses. And $30,000 each (the bonus originally paid to UTA executives) should be about right. What do you think Rep. Hughes? Is the check in the mail?
