I respectfully disagree with Dr. Hecox's letter ("Congress making itself irrelevant," Sept. 17) regarding congressional productivity over the last two years. He fails to recognize that the House of Representatives has passed over 210 bills that languish in the Senate under the leadership of Harry Reid. This is where the logjam is, and hopefully the elections in this fall will end that. He also ignores that fact that President Obama simply is not a negotiator with the congressional leaders. His philosophy is "my way or the highway."

Where Dr. Hecox is correct is in his concern for our troops going overseas again under this president's leadership. Obama has absolutely no clue about what is going on in the Middle East. Our allies and enemies know this. He is not a wartime president. I also fear the worst for our troops.

Whether Obama supporters want to admit it or not, this president has been a failure in every aspect of his administration. Simply blaming Congress is a copout.
