The printing of the "Close to Home" comic on Sept. 16 could not have been reviewed by anyone with a pulse on what is happening in the local news. Or perhaps that person is just very cold and insensitive.

The cartoon depicts a small child impaling his father with a sword. Mom says "Oh, for heaven's sake! It's only a plastic sword!"

The top local story on the same day was the controversy surrounding Darrien Hunt's killing by police as he was wielding a sword. Along with other concerns, there is controversy surrounding whether it was a real sword or a toy.

Hopefully the truth will eventually surface. Law enforcement officers face enormous challenges and great risks daily, and I am not judging them in any way.

It is the running of the cartoon by the Tribune that was so very wrong in many ways.
