I have no sympathy for the teacher who accidentally shot herself at Westbrook Elementary School in Taylorsville on Sept. 11. Fortunately, she did not injure or kill an innocent bystander, particularly one of the students. Hopefully she has learned a painfully hard lesson.

Should not we all take great solace and have peace of mind that she is a legal concealed carry permit holder in Utah and thus had to have taken the necessary training? Based on this event, we Utahns should be confident that the 500,000-plus concealed carry permit holders in our state, who received the same training as this teacher, must be responsible gun owners. Ha!

May God spare me and my loved ones from fools and their stupidity.
