Regarding the front-page article by Peggy Fletcher Stack ("For many black Mormons, racism is a bigger issue than sexism," Sept 2):

Good people try to fix flawed organizations they belong to. That's understandable and commendable. But if that organization claims as one of its major tenets to be run by God through His chosen prophets, why is it necessary for members or society in general to bring bad doctrine to the attention of the anointed leadership? Wasn't the fullness of the gospel restored by Joseph Smith? How is this not the "tail wagging the dog?" Doesn't God know how to correctly restore and run His true church? Has there been another apostasy?

Although this is a good question to ask, "How can we carefully and tactfully correct church errors without offending anointed leadership?" The spiritually relevant question here is, "Why are God and His prophets following rather than leading?"
