Regarding the front-page Tribune article ("Lack of charges is perilous, group says," Sept. 3):

The chilling absence of any legal consequences for Cliven Bundy's, and his supporter's, disrespect for the law of the land is unacceptable for at least two categorical reasons.

It is unfair to law-abiding citizens who respect public property regulations by forgoing the potential profits of illegally using public resources for their personal gain.

It is frighteningly dangerous and profoundly un-American for criminal proceedings, or the lack thereof, to be applied differentially to different citizens depending on their political bent. If the far right wing is so cocksure of the righteousness of Bundy's heavily-armed militia, then they too should be demanding a speedy trial.

Cliven Bundy and his armed allies need to be tried in court. Now.
