When I go to a store or shop online and come across an item described as being vintage, I expect that item to in fact be vintage. But this is almost always not the case, it seems like that sellers will place the word "vintage" in front of something just to have the excuse to increase the price of it. Vintage represents the high quality of a past time, and that's what I expect when I purchase an item. I want to buy an item that is actually from a past time, and not just be paying for the word.

The sellers should not be allowed to sell something as vintage unless they have documentation of it being so. If I was buying a vintage compass for $500, I would want all the documents proving its value. I would not want to just rely on the possibility of it being vintage.
