It is another sad commentary on de facto one-party rule in Utah that Southern Utah University has decided to remove Senator Harry Reid's name from a building named in his honor. ("SUU drops Harry Reid's name from building after protests," August 29.)

Sen. Reid is undeniably one of the most distinguished alumni ever to attend SUU, achieving the highest elected national office reached, not only by any of his fellow alumni, but by any member of his religious faith.

By acquiescing to these politically motivated outsiders demanding the rescinding of a duly-bestowed honor, the school's reputation as a center of objective and inclusive exchange of ideas, including democracy, is greatly diminished.

The good burghers of southern Nevada are determining a Utah university's policy for naming its buildings. We now look forward to the proposed Cliven Bundy Land Management School at SUU. Naming rights can be purchased with the money he allegedly owes us all for grazing fees on federal (our) land. ("A Nevada man, er, fan am I, sir!")
