I was traveling on Interstate 15 Tuesday at 4:45 a.m. when I suddenly realized I had a flat tire. I immediately pulled over on the freeway shoulder, preparing to call the auto club.

While I was dialing my phone, I noticed a Utah Highway Patrol trooper pulling up behind my parked car. I explained my problem to him, when I noticed another UHP trooper in another car pulled up. They asked me if I was a member of an auto club, I told them I was and I was going to call for assistance.

The trooper then asked me if I had a spare tire in the trunk, and I told him I did. Then they both said they would help me change my tire if I did not want to wait for the auto club. Both troopers working together put on my spare tire and had me off of the freeway shoulder and back on the freeway in less than half an hour.

I know many of us have negative feelings when we have contact with the UHP on our freeways, but I wish to give those troopers a big thank you and a very heartfelt high five.
