After reading the article ("14 senators want Obama to create national monument in Utah," July 31) about possibly expanding Canyonlands and the reaction of the supposed representatives from Utah, I am even more ashamed of them than usual. Especially Orrin Hatch, who is quoted as saying he is discouraged that members of Congress who don't live here want to protect this amazing state.

Well, to me it is discouraging and disgusting that our own representatives who actually live here and know what an awesome place it is would possibly not want to protect it as much as possible. But then I remember that they are more interested in getting money from oil companies and developers than keeping our beautiful state safe from those very people, which is what President Obama is trying to do. Anyone from the state who opposes this should be ashamed of themselves.
