I had the opportunity recently of driving through a section of our beautiful scenic Utah on Interstate 15, a two-lane section where the speed limit was 80 miles an hour, which as we all know really means 85 miles an hour.

Heavy traffic, lots of big trucks; it was terrifying. Imagine your 16-year-old child driving in these conditions, or your 75-year-old grandparents, or any of us in between. What was the purpose of raising the speed limit? Are there any positives, other than population control? What a sad comment on our legislators. Are we really in that big of a hurry?
