Robert Edwards' contention that President Obama is the worst president in recent history due to his bad advisers ("You're in over your head, Obama," July 21) defies credulity, based as it seems to be on great right-wing myths that have taken on a life of their own. ("Zombie lies" as one pundit has called them.) When rational argument fails, those old saws are trotted out in the belief that, if repeated often enough, they will become credible, if not true..

Speaking of the undead, we are now treated anew to the indignity of the specter — at least I think it must be his specter — of the Count Dracula of the American right, Dick Cheney, coming back from the ranks of the politically defunct. Again he freely shares his wisdom, whenever a TV camera is pointed at him, telling us, "I told you so!" when he really didn't.

This from a man who, while in office and not knowing Shi'ite from shoe polish, was largely responsible for leading us into an unjust, unwinnable war and a disastrous economic meltdown. Where's a wood stake when you need one?

So, right criticisms, Mr. Edwards, but one administration too late. By the way, you forgot to mention (shudder) the root all the evil currently disrupting world order, Obamacare. Eeeek!
