Perhaps it's time for the gay/lesbian community in and outside Utah to organize a boycott of Utah tourism much the same way groups did several years ago in southern Utah over the discriminatory definition of the "traditional family" pushed by the Sutherland Institute and adopted in Kane County by the city of Kanab.

Vacationers should be encouraged to spend their tourism dollars outside of Utah by boycotting state and federal parks in summer and Utah skiing in winter.

Sadly, Gov. Herbert and State Attorney General Reyes continue to waste taxpayer dollars on frivolous judicial appeals of Utah's ban of same-sex marriage despite the fact that in state after state these discriminatory laws continue to fall like dominos. Herbert's recent comment in the Tribune, "All Utahns deserve clarity and finality when it comes to the law," is nothing more than a thinly veiled effort to satisfy the LDS Church and placate neo-con Republicans on the extreme right. Meanwhile, the rest of us get to pay for it. So count me in. I'd be happy to write a check in support of a ban on Utah tourism.
