"I’m pretty sure Nixon felt his only mistake was getting caught. I’d imagine Swallow and Shurtleff feel the same way. Pesky, persistent reporters in both cases, too. Were it not for the Washington Post, Gerald Ford would have never been president. And were it not for the Tribune, Swallow would still be in office.
