Letter: Equal time for ‘regular folks’
First Published Jul 15 2014 04:02 pm • Last Updated Jul 15 2014 04:58 pm

In his latest frenzied attack on President Obama, Jon Voigt flatters himself in thinking he understands and can predict world events. He got it wrong.

Our worst enemies for the moment are Al-Qaida, ISIS, Iran, and North Korea. Gov. Romney was not correct in stating that Russia is our greatest adversary, even with Putin’s aggression.

Final troop withdrawals from Iraq were negotiated under George W Bush, not President Obama. To leave several thousand troops in Iraq without permission from the Iraqi government and a Status of Forces Agreement would have been impossible as well as insane.

Wackobird celebrities like Jon Voigt and Donald Trump are given too much access to news outlets and are allowed to influence public opinion with their invective against President Obama, no matter how stupid or outrageous their views.

Ordinary people just have to sit still and listen to them shoot off their mouths, even though they trip over the facts. News outlets, especially electronic media should, be required to give time to responsible "regular folks" to respond.
